I LOVE THIS BIBLE BUT THE NUMBERS FOR THE BIBLE VERSES ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE!!!
I love The Message Bible and I bought the large print edition so I don’t get why in the world the publisher made the numbers for the verses so hard to see. Pale gray on white and so tiny! If I need a large print bible then why would the publisher think that I have eagle-eyed vision to see tiny pale numbers on white paper?? Please fix this! It is a hardship for those of us who are older or have vision issues. Otherwise The Message Bible is awesome! Easy to understand and don’t skip Eugene Peterson’s insights sprinkled liberally throughout this bible! They open your eyes and your heart to a new way of thinking! Spectacular! I have given many as gifts. This is a bible you can actually enjoy!

    Love this Bible.
There are many translations available of the Bible. I tend to use several different translations during my Bible studies, but my favorite is The Message by Eugene Peterson. Hang on to your hat and buckle your seat belt – this is a straight forward, no holds barred, modern English language translation of the most classic book ever written. King James would not recognize it had anything to do with his translation, but, with all due respect to King James, I find some of his language difficult to follow and comprehend too. Not only do you get the most complete, modern English translation of the Bible, but you also have the added benefit of Eugene Peterson’s guidance/questions/insights/years of pastoral knowledge and love of the The Message [a.k.a. God’s Word]. Want the Bible to be more relevant in your day-to-day experience? Think that the Bible was an ancient book for an ancient people in an ancient time? Think again my friend the Bible is more relevant and has more to say to all of us now more than ever and Eugene Peterson has taken on the painstaking task of bringing it to our attention in very plain and revealing texts while keeping the holiness of the prose and poetry.

    Pristine Condition!
This Bible was a gift for my sister so I had it sent directly to her. She is very pleased that it looks new, no marks or damage at all.

Perfect earth tone colors, easy page turner
I truly have to give a thumbs up for these tabs! The sticker length does not cover any text when you align the sticker tabs properly (definitely use the provided Alignment Guide, it’s helpful). If you need to readjust the tab, just pull gently within the first 10sec, from either side of the page, then securely stick together.Love the feel of these tabs, and the earth tone colors are a nice touch!

    Amazing devotional bible
To be clear, the Message Bible is a paraphrase by Eugene H. Peterson. Hes a scholar of Greek and Hebrew and a paster. Thats probably why its called “the message” because the book is about the message of the bible. What many dummy-christians and internet trolls are messing to the equation is that the authors purpose is to deliver to you THE MESSAGE of jesus christ and his ministry.Eugenes paraphrase opens up the bible to be approachable to the modern person, and approachable to non-christians. I love his paraphrase except for the book of ecclesiastes, for some reason I prefer translations that use the word “dust” instead of “smoke”.Another thing, he has soften verses that are condemning of homosexuality. Apparently for many Christians, this bible is not condemning enough of various sins. Again, whats completely missed by people who get stuck on this, is its a paraphrase bible. You’re perfectly allowed to learn greek and hebrew, and read the gospels and torah yourself, if you must have the most accurate translation. People who are getting hung up on a verse here and there, are missing the message(see what I did there, hahaha! :-pThe Message is great for people like me, who like various parts of the bible, and like Jesus and his spirituality, but do not feel the need to be “christian”.The book and the cover is beautiful highly recommend., it feels great in your hand.

    An informative, clear devotional Bible
I was hesitant to buy this at first; it isn’t a well-known translation like the NIV, NLT, RSV, NAB,ESV, or KJV. The Message Bible is also sometimes sold without including the Old Testament; this one has both, along with insights and introductions to each book. I do have to say that this edition does not include the Deuterocanonical books, and for that I use my Didache or NLT Catholic Reader’s Edition. Eugene H Peterson was both a scholar and a pastor and translates the Bible into beautiful but common English, without using slang phrases. This would be a good Bible to introduce new Christians, or to assist with Bible study (I use Didache, NLT, NIV and Harper Collins Study Bible to get different perspectives)! So I do personally use this in addition to other translations for study and meditation purposes. Also I did buy the paperback edition, with a matte finish. Due to the bulk of having both Testaments I did not want the additional weight of the hardcover. It was shipped in great condition, no tears or bent corners of any pages. The only thing that would make this better is if it came in a compact size!

Though I’ve loved the Lord as long as I can remember, I’d never loved reading His Word. It was difficult for me to see reading my Bible as more than anything than doing it because that was what you were supposed to do. And for the longest time I felt so bad for not enjoying the Bible in NIV and NLT. Anyway, now at 23 years of age, I told myself it’s ok because at the end of the day I think God cares more about how we’re engaging with His Word, how it moves us and challenges us, inspires us, disciplines us, rather than the formatting of the wording.I think there’s something beautiful about *all* translations, and if this gets you to read the Bible, THAT’S OK. It’s all the same content, just different styles of delivery. Just like a sermon by two people can be the exact same content, you are more than guaranteed to have 2 different deliveries, 2 different reactions.
