The things you want most for your child are the things only God can do . . . so you pray.
As parents we want to protect our children; we want them to move forward in life; most importantly, we want them to take hold of and grow in Christ. And while the advice offered by parenting experts can be helpful, at some point we realize there are no simplistic formulas or sure-fire methods. We need wisdom from God’s Word for this all-important task.
In The One Year Praying through the Bible for Your Kids, trusted author Nancy Guthrie weaves together wisdom and insight from each day’s reading in The One Year Bible, providing a parenting prayer devotional full of encouragement through the triumphs and turbulence of parenting.

Beautiful book and easy read
I got the hard cover bc it’s so beautiful. I really love the daily devotional and how they broke up the readings into bite sized sections. This has been a great way to start the day or end it. Grateful this was recommended to me 🙂

Wonderful gospel-centered devotional
I can’t recommend this book enough! I love how Guthrie draws out such poignant biblical truths from selected Scripture. I find that the truths are applicable even out of the context of parenting.

LIFE CHANGING, PEACE GIVING!
I won this book at a Women’s Conference. I didn’t expect the gigantic blessing it would be to me. It has reminded me of the truths in Scripture that apply to all children — no matter the age, stage or spiritual condition. I have given it as a gift and recommended it to many. I love that it is read daily since anxiety about children creeps up all the time and we, as Believers, need to be reminded of God’s sovereignty and promises. It has given me great peace.

If you only by 1 “parenting” book, buy this!
I’m so happy I found this book! It’s gotten me to read, study and pray through the Bible with my little one on my heart. Each day is a passage of scripture, devotional and then a prayer. It’s short and sweet (perfect for a busy mom like me) but is full of wisdom and accomplishes a lot.1) It gets me into scripture each day.2) The devotions help me reflect on the scripture reading in terms of my child and my role a parent.3) The prayers are scripture based and are a great model of how to take the promises of God found throughout the Bible and turn them into prayers for your children.I love that this book gets me reading my Bible and talking to God about my child. There are SO many Christian parenting books out there that try to tell you all of the things that you need to do to be the “perfect” parent. I know the authors of those books are well meaning, but reading those kind of books often leaves me feeling inadequate and a failure. This book doesn’t do that at all. It doesn’t tell you what you should or shouldn’t be doing. It just points you to the Bible and to God.Being a parent is hard. There are no perfect parents and there are no perfect children. The devotion that I read today (May 31) pointed out that Jesus actually was a perfect child and even still being His mother was far from easy. Given that being a parent can be so challenging I can’t think of a better thing that we can do than to go to God with our children. This book encourages just that! I can’t recommend it enough!

After praying to grow closer to God last year, I received a NIV bible in year as a gift but truthfully was too lazy to commit to reading it daily. After almost losing my daughter through a sudden illness in early December & her miraculous healing by God, I felt even more compelled to grow closer to God. I found this book around Christmas, purchased it and started the new year with it. I haven’t looked back since. I believe and hope I’ll read it yearly, and have gifted it to close friends and family. It goes perfectly with the NIV bible in a year. You won’t regret it!

These scripturally based prayers really get to the heart of the desires and fears you have as a parent and ask you to truly lay it all at the feet of Jesus. There’s nothing more powerful than praying the Word of God over your children.
