    Perfect Sculpture, Imperfect Mounting
I have bought several Veronese Design statues in the past, and all of them have been stunningly beautiful. This Medusa sculpture is no exception. The photos truly do not do Her justice. For this reason, I cannot give less than 5 stars, although there are a few things to be aware of.First, know that the 9 inch length measurement includes the hook. The icon itself is just a hair over seven inches, and the hook makes up the roughly 2 inch difference.Second, the sculpture arrives with two screws and two wall anchors, but no instructions on how to hang it. There is also no template included to aid in drilling the mounting holes in the wall. When I saw that the back plate has screws in it, I assumed it would be as simple as unscrewing the backplate, using it to mark the locations to drill into the wall, and then screwing the backplate back into the sculpture. It turns out the three screws holding it in place are extremely weak and impossible to remove. Attempting to unscrew them by hand broke them all with surprising ease.I ended up using the backplate to mark the hole locations and then gluing it back in place. Note in the photo that you want to orient the backplate with the larger round parts on the bottom and you will mark the drill holes above them, in the thinner slotted sections. With that done, use a 13/64 inch drill bit to make the holes, pound the wall anchors into them, and insert the screws most of the way into the anchors. Test with the backplate now (before gluing it back on the sculpture!) to be sure everything lines up. The backplate is slightly recessed within the sculpture, so leave the screws sticking out about 1/4 inch.Glue the backplate back on, taking care to orient it properly – with the round parts at the bottom and the thinner slots facing up, and then you’re ready to mount Her to the wall.Hopefully, these instructions will help, and you won’t let the mounting headache dissuade you from the purchase. Once She is in place, you will not regret the extra effort!
