God has a purpose for every mother-daughter relationship.

Without vital conversation between mothers and daughters, a godless society will have the loudest voice in girls’ lives. Designed to be read together or separately, this book will stimulate conversation as mothers seek to pass along the legacy of godly womanhood to their daughters. Carolyn Mahaney and her daughter Nicole Whitacre share from personal experience as they explore the joy and freedom that comes from a relationship rooted in God’s unique design for mothers and daughters―pointing the world to the truth of the gospel from one generation to the next.

    Great Book for Mother/Daughter Relationships
I’m really enjoying reading this book. I only wish I knew that I should have gotten two, one for me and one for my daughter, so we could literally as well as figuratively hopefully be on the same page.It provides wonderful insight in helping moms raise their daughters in a Godly, Biblical way and to help daughters appreciate their mom in raising them, molding them to be true Christians, to keep themselves pure, and keep the focus where it belongs.Having this as a guide really helps when raising a teenage daughter.I highly recommend this book and suggest getting two so your daughter can be reading along at the same time. I’ll be letting my daughter read after me, but I’ve already been sharing ideas from the book which she listens to and appreciates.

Great way to get closer to your daughter!
Me and my eleven year old daughter read this together and it was a great conversation starter to talk about akward situations without making it weird. If your needing something to bring you closer to your daughter and bring you both closer to God then I was highly recommend this book!

    Such a wonderful resource!
I happened to see this book recommended somewhere so decided to check it out…wow! What a treasure! I underlined like crazy as I read through it and I’m anxious to go back through it with my daughters (12 & 13) this coming winter during our girl times. So refreshing to read someone willing to inform their worldview and view of womanhood/daughters unapologetically from scripture. A much needed resource for Christian mothers, however I’d also recommend it for grandmother’s, youth leaders, Sunday school teachers or any woman who finds herself in a Titus 2 role.

My daughters have enjoyed reading this book with me
I purchased “Girl Talk” to read with my two daughters. The book is written by a mother/daughter team, Carolyn Mahaney and Nicole Whitacre. The book is actually a collaboration between Carolyn and her three daughters, and while the other two contributed creatively, they did not actually do any writing. The book is a series of discussions between Carolyn and her daughters which are meant to prompt and guide positive discussions between mothers and daughters reading the book. My daughters have enjoyed reading this book with me. We read and then discuss the chapter. I have enjoyed the many viewpoints Carolyn and her daughters express. The book is written from a Christian viewpoint with humor, sincerity and a wealth of scriptural references. “Girl Talk” also provides numerous sources for “Further Study” at the end of each section. This is not a book for the faint of heart. The discussion questions are very revealing and must be asked and answered with kindness to get the most from them. The questions invite both mother and daughter to be open and honest about their hopes and desires.I would recommend this book to any mother looking for a way to spend time with her daughters and have some thought provoking discussion on the difficulties in both raising and becoming a biblical woman in today’s world.

Great book for mother and teenage daughters
Great book to read and discuss with your teenage daughter. I read it with my 14 year old and it spurred a lot of good conversations between us.

Easy, impactful read for about 6th grade up. My daughter and I both lived it!!!
This is a great book. Doing it as a book study with my 14 year old and another friend. It’s book club style and is awesome. Very readable, very relevant, and love the shorter chapters so it’s not heavy to read it. I can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t benefit from it. It’s caused me to think differently about my relationship with my own mom. And that’s a good thing, even though I adore my mom.😍

    Meh
We are trying to read through this book. I am working through it with my two teenage daughters. While there is some valuable points my daughters seem less than enthusiastic to participate with this book

It helped me recognize things in my youth and how I took away the sweet, God-given role of my mother by seeking advice …
Every mother with a daughter of ANY age should have this and read it when they’re young and as they grow. It helped me recognize things in my youth and how I took away the sweet, God-given role of my mother by seeking advice away from her…even if she may not have seemed to understand, God blesses that role and we take it away:( Wonderful book to break lies about our daughters and mothers and become a biblical woman!

I wanted to be the first to review this book in the UK amazon services because it is that amazing (and I think the UK crowd would truly benefit from a brush with this wisdom). I am a thrity year old (non-related) scholar. And, I come from a non-spiritual upbringing, though I have read many books on spirituality and Chistianity. I have recently become (comparably) seriously involved in living a gospel-guided life having met many amazing American families who do so. Even for me, as an adult-beginner, this book, aimed at teenage girls and their mothers, was thoroughly engaging. I could not put it down. It is an introduction to what biblical womenhood is about and it opens mentally vistas which society implicitly shuts down. It is written by two women who should write many more books due to their literary charisma, their expertise, they experience, their compassion, determiation and transparency. It is an amazingly personable and uplifting read.

A great & helpful read, an encouragement as we seek God’s guidance in our parenting journey. Some cross-cultural differences, but overall found this a helpful pattern as a mother.
