This item is EXACTLY as described, is large, and the detail is amazing. It is most definitely solid bronze, with a marble base. My guess is that the rust another reviewer experienced around the foot is from the bolt that is attaching the piece to the base, but I am no expert so I cannot say of for sure, of course. I am not putting mine outside, so this is not a concern I will have. In any event, this is a wonderful item at a wonderful price. Amazon had it to me in no time!!

Museum quality
I gave this item 5 stars but the inadequate protection for the delicate “pipes” and/or the rough handling by UPS bent the “pipes” that Pan is playing. Incredibly fast free shipping. The order arrived 3 days after I placed it. It compares very well to the copy that I bought in Florence many years ago. It is impressive in appearance with excellent quality and detailing.If you are fortunate enough to receive one in undamaged condition I believe that you would be very satisfied with your purchase.

False advertising! Chinese made. NOT bronze! Do NOT put outside!
I was initially thrilled to own this beautiful piece. To be on the safe side, I contacted Design Toscano directly to make sure this would be safe outside. I was told that yes, over time it would develop a patina, but it would not rust, and so I put it out in my garden.2 months later, I had to move it, and was horrified to find rust near the base, at the back of the hoof. I emailed photos to Design Toscano, who never got back to me. When I called them today, they told me the manufacturer is in China (garbage,) but that I’d have to deal with Amazon, despite the fact that THEY were the ones that told me it would be safe outside. I know Amazon’s not going to do anything at this point, so I’m updating this rating, instead.It’s still lovely, but DO NOT PUT IT OUTSIDE! It can’t be bronze if it’s RUSTING.
