Based on Foundations Adult Bible Reading Plan, Foundations For Kids Offers a 260-Day Plan to Read Through the Bible’s Most Important Passages Using the HEAR Method of Bible Study. Kids will love the easy-to-read format and activities! by Robby Gallaty
Foundations for Kids is a 260-day reading plan for kids that highlights the foundational passages of Scripture every disciple should know. Foundations for Kids follows the H.E.A.R. method. The acronym H.E.A.R. stands for Highlight, Explain, Apply, and Respond. Each of these four steps contributes to creating an atmosphere to hear God speak:
HEAR: Kids will study God’s Word and memorize a verse.
EXPLAIN: Kids will read an explanation of the verses.
APPLY: Kids will work an activity to help them apply the Bible truth.
RESPOND: Kids will have the opportunity to respond in prayer.

Great Devotional for Kids
We are four weeks in. I really enjoy this devotional for kids. I have a 7 year old, 5 year old and a 3 year old. This review is mainly for the 7 year old. The devotion is broken up into a 5 day a week, 52 week schedule. We try to do the devotional after school on the weekdays, but if we miss a day or two, it’s easy to catch up on the weekend. The Scripture reading is also broken up into either a Scripture for younger kids or for older kids. The intro to the devotional explains the process of reading the Scripture and understanding what it means. After the Scripture reading, there is a summary of what you just read, then an application or activity and a response prayer. The book gives a weekly verse to memorize that goes with the theme of that week. The verse are easy to memorize and it is really nice to memorize Scripture as a family. This is our first devotional as a family trying to model what Bible reading/prayer time can look like even at a young age. I really think this is a great start and I’m looking forward to going through the New Testament book after we are finished with this one. I pray that my kids will continue to look forward to spending time in the Word discovering how wonderful God is and how much we all need Him.

Great tool for kids bible study
Doing this study with my 4 yr old and 5 yr old and I feel like it’s perfect for my 5 yr old. My 4 yr old is quickly distracted and the reading and activities are a bit too much for her age. All in all, i really enjoy going through this study with my kids. It’s the perfect tool to teach them the importance of spending time in God’s word.

Great Bible study for the whole family
We LOVE this bible study! My son is kindergarten aged and we needed a more in depth bible study that we could do together. Before this we were just reading the Jesus Storybook Bible daily and doing little crafts alongside it. This is a quick (10-20 minute, depending on discussion and activity length) bible study that we can do together. He’s not at the age yet where he can read it independently, but children a little bit older absolutely could. It’s also in depth enough and with enough info that children in older grades could do it. The pictures/activities are super engaging for my 5 year old, and the biblical truths are highlighted simply so he gets the info he needs. Awesome family bible study!

Love this!
Great for my kindergartner! Learn to look up verses, discussion questions. Has two different options for older v younger kids — great for digging into Gods word with kids.

Incredible Teaching Tool!
I love this Bible Reading Plan Journal because it has increased my own desire and passion for teaching children God’s Word. The kids are enjoying their time learning and they like the daily activities. We use this in our church and it’s very easy to be on the same page with the congregation when all the children are doing the same plan. Grateful for the work they have done to put this together. We do a daily video for our children using this book to help busy or single parents.

Good for younger readers
I bought this for my 6-year-old (who is an advanced reader) and she LOVES it! It keeps her attention with activities. I love it because it actually includes scripture. I’m a stickler for Bible studies as I want them to actually require the Bible! There are 2 levels of scripture readings, so my 6-year-old can read 1-2 verses for the “Young Reader” and my 12-year-old can read a few more verses from the same passage for the “Older Reader”. We do this Bible study every night at bedtime. It gives Truth in an understandable format. I kind of want to try the adult version. 🙂
